CovertCarrier® GENERAL SAFETY GUIDELINES:
WARNING!!!
The IMPROPER handling and use of a handgun can result in SERIOUS INJURY and/or DEATH!
CovertCarrier® urges everyone to
practice handgun safety. Negligent discharges may occur during the securing and/or
drawing phase of handgun use. Further, negligent discharges can only occur when
a live round is in the chamber of a handgun. Users of CovertCarrier techniques prevent negligent or accidental discharges of a handgun.
AVOID drawing, presenting or securing a CovertCarrier
equipped handgun with a LIVE round in the chamber. ALWAYS keep your trigger finger
ALONG SIDE the frame of a handgun and out of the trigger guard until you are ready to press the trigger and discharge a handgun. These safety routines hold true for any and all concealed weapons operation.
The CovertCarrier is offered for sale to members of law enforcement,
concealed weapons permit holders, and/or those persons properly trained and permitted by law to carry a concealed handgun. Safe operation of a handgun is essential to preventing injury or death. Gun safety classes are encouraged and recommended. Carry wisely,
prevent negligent discharges.

the safe use of the CovertCarrier.

“The proper method of using, securing and presenting the CovertCarrier.”
Pictured above is an NAA ACP .32 with a CovertCarrier Replacement Panel
In the photo below, the subject is armed with a .32 Cal. ACP Guardian. The Guardian is made by North American Arms, Inc.of Provo Utah. The weapon is securely positioned approximately three inches to the right of the subject’s belt buckle,
in the waistband, along the belt loop. The CovertCarrier MUST be used with a high quality belt and suitable shorts, pants or trousers equipped with standard
sized belt loops. A strong, thick, leather “Ranger” type belt
is used in this instance; it is important to aid in locking the concealed weapon in place.
The CovertCarrier and handgun must fit securely between the user's belt,
pants and torso. The proper position for the metal fastener is behind the belt and belt loop.
NOTE:
The metal fastener has a small niche near the bend at the top of the lazy S. In order to create the "INVISIBLE
LOCK " be sure that the niche is placed against the belt loop. Gravity, pressure of your torso
against your clothing, and the niche affixed to a belt loop combine to create the Covert Carrier's "INVISIBLE
LOCK."
In
the second demonstration photo, the subject uses the off-hand to locate the barrel portion of the CovertCarrier equipped handgun. Upon contact with the weapon the
barrel is moved away and forward of the torso, lifting the handgun slightly. The
user keeps the muzzle and barrel pointed safely away from the body with the off-hand; the thumb of the user’s strong
hand locates and leads the strong hand in gripping the handle portion of the pistol ONLY.
The weapon then appears above the beltline as it is lifted from its resting position.
NOTE:
Currently, there are two methods to draw and present a handgun equipped with the CovertCarrier: A) The two-handed
draw as explained above; and B) The "Hinkle" one-hand draw. The one-hand Hinkle method is complex and should only
be used by persons trained by CovertCarrier, Inc. or that are recognized and designated EXPERTS in the field of self-defense!
With the Hinkle method the handgun is located, lifted and drawn using only one hand.
In the third
photo, the subject has pulled the handgun, equipped with the CovertCarrier, from
the waistband and brings it up to a low ready position. NOTE that the user’s strong
and weak hands both remain behind the handgun and barrel; the trigger finger remains “along side” and NOT ON
the handgun’s trigger during the drawing and presenting phase.
The fourth photo shows the handgun at the low ready position. The user keeps his fingers off the trigger and behind the muzzle…The weapon has cleared the users
body and clothing. Now a round may be cycled into the chamber should the user
ultimately decide to press the trigger.
The technique used to grip a handgun which is equipped with a CovertCarrier is a bit different than a
standard grip of a pistol not equipped with our fastener, sleeve or replacement panel.
When gripping the a CovertCarrier equipped handgun utilizing the index finger, the web between the thumb
and forefinger, the thumb, and the leading edge of the palm as primary contact points against the pistol. The lower,
remaining segment of the palm grips the handle of the pistol, but with less overall pressure than that of the
upper segment.
The CovertCarrier metal fastener's desinged is convex; the palm of the hand is concave.
The fastener and the palm compliment each other; and, it allows the fastener to be recieved into the palm of the hand
easily.
Two handed shooters opt to use the weak hand for additional stability and control. At discharge, the
handgun and CovertCarrier will move towards the heal of the strong hand. As such, contact with the forward
segment of the CovertCarrier fastener becomes unlikely. Furthermore, by gripping the handgun as we
suggest, there should be little or no intererence when securing or presenting the firearm.
